A Word from the Board of Directors

Early in November, the Board held our annual retreat. As I wrote in last month’s newsletter, this is our annual opportunity to set our goals and priorities.  It was a great day with energy flowing and a list of topics for this year.  Our first task was to set our officers for this year.  Andrew, Calvin, and I will all remain in our current positions of Treasurer, Vice President, and President respectively.  Morgan was elected to be our new Secretary and kicked off her duties with recording all our ideas at the board retreat.

We followed that up with some team tasks that let us get to know each other better and to get our creative juices flowing.  Included in our topics were the following:

  • Keeping our motivation high all year,
  • Maintaining our excellent Board/GM partnership,
  • Expanding our committee work projects,
  • Increasing Owner/Board and Staff/Board events,
  • Increase local producer events/meetings.

We also decided as a board to move back to in-person meetings for the board members for better collaboration. With this decision, the board also secured an off-site venue large enough in which the whole board can meet.  This move will also aid in factors as store noise and privacy for executive session items. But don’t fear! Owners will have the ability to still attend board meetings virtually or in-person.  We will continue to open the Google Meeting at the start of each board meeting.  If we do not have any owners sign in after the first 10 minutes of the meeting, we will disconnect the virtual meeting.  If you would like to attend the meeting in person, please check out the Co-op calendar for our location.

The board is very energized about the coming months and what we expect to achieve. We also look forward to the start of our 50th year and hope to bring you some special articles in coming months celebrating this milestone.  Until then, we wish you all a very joyous and peaceful holiday season.
