After the devastation on March 11 in Japan, Common Ground owners felt compelled to help out in some way. Owners began asking Common Ground if we could help raise funds for disaster relief efforts. Common Ground has chosen for all the donations collected during April’s Round-Up at the register to go to Peace Winds Japan. PWJ is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), dedicated to the support of people in distress, threatened by conflict, poverty, or other turmoil, and is headquartered in Japan.
Common Ground has set a goal to collect $2,000 next month. In February 2010 our Round-Up Program was born as a way to raise funds for Haiti earthquake disaster relief. We raised $1367.93! Common Ground feels confident that our goal for Japan will be met.
*There will also be a Food and Clothing Drive for Japan disaster relief, held on the Common Ground Porch Sunday, April 3 from 8am-6pm.
